I-ELLA Total Closet Takeover

Want to raid your favorite celebrities’ closets? Now you can at I-ELLA.com.  We recently spoke to Kristen, a Marketing and Outreach staff member at I-ELLA and she gave us some insight to the backstory and growth of I-ELLA.

Started by Ella Gorgla, she took her business education and her love of fashion to give back to the community. The premise of I-ELLA is an online consignment shop, with a celebrity twist. While anyone with trendy and seasonal items can buy, sell and trade their stuff at I-ELLA, the company also has a celebrity sections where big name stars donate items out of their own closet. However, the best part is that everyone who gives items to be sold chooses the charity that’s close to their heart. The list of charities is endless, but as of late, I-ELLA has been focusing on Japan Relief funds.

Having only started in September of 2010 with a launch at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, I-ELLA has made a name for themselves in the fashion world. Being included on a list of the “Top Ten Start Ups to Watch” is pretty cool, but after only a year, holding a Fashion Night Out event this past fall with the help of designer Zac Posen is absolutely amazing.

Of the celebrities who have donated, the list includes Kanye West, Kristen Bell, LaLa Vasquez, Selita Ebanks, but most notably, Whitney Port who donated items directly out of her Whitney Eve line when the company launched. Whitney actually started her relationship with I-ELLA via Twitter. Don’t underestimate the power of social media!

Whats next for I-ELLA? Obviously, they understand the power of social media and plan to expand. Soon the company will be launching a Tumblr site and hope to revamp their “I-ELLA Heart” site, allowing members to comment and discuss some of their favorite pieces. Also, Kristen let us in on a little secret: I-ELLA might be launching a Men’s site soon! No official word on the venture just yet, but keep an eye out!
