Look of the Day – Miss Bossy

Today’s outfit is all about the office. People tend to get a little weary when dressing fashionable at the office, especially if you’re not working for a fashion magazine or somewhere with pretty liberal dress codes.  Whether it be for an internship or your full time career you want to look the part at work without surrendering your style….or buying clothes that you can’t wear anywhere else. Also keep in mind that your coworkers, subordinates, and bosses may judge you on what you put on your back so if you want to be seen as “Miss Boss” be sure to dress the part.  Today we are doing a dress. Keep it simple, be very aware of the fabric choice – avoid anything heavy in cotton or that looks like it’ll attract lint or other unattractive dust bunnies.  You want something that will always look brand new, something that looks expensive, even if it isn’t. Then, the focus will be on your blazer.  The dress-blazer combination is nothing new but instead of going for that very square grey blazer you may be thinking about try something with a bit of structure.  Because everything else in the outfit is so dark we wanted to go with a blush pump, it’ll lighten the mood (ergo less cruella more Ms. Honey) and compliment the dress.  Now there’s no need to court that monster bag with your flats and perhaps files around all day so go for an envelope clutch for a lunch outside the office.  For jewelry a watch and complimenting bracelet will do.  Add a ring to each hand and you’re ready to go.  If you happen to be meeting up with the girls after for a rock concert no need to rush home to change. Lose the jacket and grab a striking pair of heels.
